Recycling (December 29, 2008)
Ratings:
Our third attempt at the Green Initiative and it was the most depressing one ever. Due to our economy, the prices on newspaper declined by one-fifth! So this will be the final attempt to recycling newspaper.

Ice-Skating Social (December 19, 2008)
Ratings:
We had our annual ice-skating social at Anaheim Ice from 7-9PM. We got a great price of $8 per person including skates. We sold pre-sale tickets for $10 and it was $12 at the door. We had over 80 people who attended, from club members, alumni, and KIWIN’S from other schools. Overall, it was a great way to start off our winter break.

Fall Fest (November 15, 2008)
Ratings:
We participated in Fall Feast by selling curly fries from Jack in the Box. We bought 50 orders at $1.79 each and we sold them at $2.50. We sold out too! Thanks to everyone who supported us!

T-shirt Sale (November 13, 2008)
Ratings:
We finally got to working with our t-shirts. The color is beautiful and the design is super cool! We ordered them at $8 a shirt and we sold them to our members for $10. Thanks to everyone who bought one to show off their spirit and support!

Sponsor-shipping (November 10, 2008)
Ratings:
I wrote a letter to all of the local supermarkets to ask for donations for our social on Saturday, November 15th. We gave a letter to the managers and in the end we were able to get gift cards from Stator Bros and Ralph’s.

Halloween Dance (October 25, 2008)
Ratings:
We had our second dance with University KIWIN’S and this time it was a Halloween dance! Once again we sold presale tickets for $10 and $13 at the door. The dance was much more successful than the last with more than 400 people who attended it! It was pretty impressive about the number of people who came dressed up too!

Recycling (August 27, 2008)
Ratings:
Our second round of the Green Initiative! Only this time we only recycled newspaper and it was not as successful as last time. Yet, I would have picked the money than throwing the newspaper away. It would be like throwing money away.

America’s Funniest Videos TV Taping (August 19, 2008)
Ratings:
For our second TV appearance, we went all the way down to Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach to watch one of America’s oldest and funniest show. America’s Funniest Videos was a great experience. Everyone got a chance to dress up and look their best for the camera. Our president even got chosen to compete in the Best Dressed Competition for $250. Even though we couldn’t win the competition at $16 per person, we got paid for something we would have probably done for free.

Wipeout TV Taping (August 8, 2008)
Ratings:
Getting ready for our television debut, 15 of us headed down to Venice Beach to become part of the studio audience of the smash hit, Wipeout. This hilarious game show was coming to a close and we helped film their season countdown of the 25 most memorable moments. Though we did not watch any actual clips, we got a chance at stardom as the camera zoomed by! We got $14 per person for just applauding and cheering.

Recycling (July 19, 2008)
Ratings:
Super KIWIN’S to the rescue! Together we helped save the world…literally by recycling everything recyclable! Gathering together aluminum cans, plastic bottles, newspaper, and cardboard, we contributed in making the world a greener place. Then taking all the supplies down to Garcia Recycling and Metals in two trips, we cashed all the materials to make our treasury greener with some money! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Underground Dance (June 20, 2008)
Ratings:
Trying out new things, La Quinta KIWIN’S put together its very first dance. With the help of University KIWIN’S, we were able to bring together two schools of manatees to the UCI Phoenix Grille. The room was crowded, the music was loud, and the money box kept overfilling. With presale tickets valued at $10 and a $13 at the door price, we were rolling in money by the end of the night.

Car Wash (June 8, 2008)
Ratings:
After a long wait, we finally were able to do our very first car wash of the term! And the results were beautiful! We washed about half of what we usually do and were in a really bad location; however, we still were able to double our usual shares of profit thanks to some very generous tippers.

Roundtable Pizza Fundraiser (May 19, 2008)
Ratings:
For our second restaurant fundraiser, we chose a local Roundtable Pizza who offered us 20% of all our bills. Due the rain the entire afternoon, this resulted in a lack of costumers. We were only able to bring a couple of board members and a few close supporters.

Candy Sale (May 5 to May 12, 2008)
Ratings:
Knowing that candy sales always insure great profits, we decided to have one without much debate. Going down to our local Costco, we bought a variety of candy and then separated them into bags for our board members to sell at school. Each bag was at a $20 value. Thanks to our school’s student and their huge sugar tooth, some of us were able to sell a whole bag in one day.

Carl’s Jr. Fundraiser (April 18, 2008)
Ratings:
For our very first fundraiser of the new term, we wanted to create a delightful social atmosphere combined with a great money-making opportunity. Offering us 25% of all our bills, Carl’s Jr. was a sure choice this time. Not only were we able to bring together members in our own club for bonding, friends that we had made at DCON also came to show their support making our profits soar higher than we had expected.
