Thanksgiving Luncheon (November 22, 2008)
Ratings:
Description: On Saturday, November 22, our volunteers helped Project Access with their Thanksgiving Luncheon at the senior homes. These seniors and their families have not had a thanksgiving meal for a very long time, so our goal was to host a successful and fun Thanksgiving Luncheon. We helped set – up chairs, make center pieces for the tables and decorated the walls with leaves with various Thanksgiving decorations so the event will look more welcoming. When the event started, we were told to assist at the activities booth and the raffles tickets booth. The event turned out to be terrific; there were so many families and everyone seems to know each other really well. When food was served, the raffle tickets crew went around asking people if the wanted a raffle ticket. After the raffle tickets were drawn, we helped cut and serve pumpkin pie to everyone and joined in the celebration of those whose birthday is in November. We can see that the event was really successful when all the seniors and their families returned home with happy faces.
